November 2011
Hello and welcome to the new look Sutton Utd Juniors news page. As you will see our webpage has been updated and from now on parents and players can find various useful peices of information on team pages, results, league tables, players wanted together with various community news.
There have been changes to the junior section over the past two seasons namely with the formation of an executive committee made up of the following members:-
Chairman - Trevor Carvall
Club Secretary - Kevin Howard
Treasurer - Genaro Crego
Co-ordinator of Mini-Football - Phil Greenhead
Following successful trials in May of this year which were held on the main stadium pitch, we not only managed to strengthen our younger teams but also formed several new teams and welcome new managers to the club, Mark Cheriton U8, Adam Jackson U9, Malcolm Davenport U10, Joe Camilleri U10 and our new Girls Co-ordinator, Jacky Allen who formed a new U11 Girls team.
As the 2011/12 season moves into November, most of the teams have played 5/6 games in their respective leagues. With the U8‘s being non-competitive, no results and league tables are published, but the U8a’s managed by Steve Boys are progressing well from U7 having been strengthened in pre-season. Our new U8’s managed by Mark Cheriton have also started positively, so we will keep you updated on how they get on throughout the season.
Now for the really good news..........so far, like the 1st team who are currently 2nd in the Conference South, the juniors have several teams who have started the season really well. Our U9’s (managed by Lee Watling) are flying high at the top of the Epsom & Ewell Premier Division. The U10’s (Dan Fenwick-Boylan) are currently top of the SYL Premier Division, the U11’s (Kevin Howard) are unbeaten in all league and cup competitions and are top the SYL Prem Elite. We then have the older teams, U14’s (Gin Crego) who are 2nd in the SYL Premier and our U15’s (Steve Griffin) are 1st in the top division of the Tandridge League. So a massive well done to both players and managers of these teams. The newer teams have also started well but like all new teams they will need time to settle in playing together.
