Dorking Wanderers 1 Sutton United 3 (H/T 1-3)
YOUTHS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS
Sutton returned to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Dorking Wanderers.
Tom Mallett gave Sutton an early lead as he reacted first when Jean-Luc Kinsaba’s cross rebounded off the back post to head home, and Darnell Austin nearly extended the lead moments later when he pulled his shot wide after a driving run from Kieran Rhule. Rhule then had a long-range effort comfortably saved, but on 19 minutes the home side levelled the scores as Aiden Torpey saw Sandile Wydler-Manzi off his line and curled a superb effort from range inside the far post. Just a couple of minutes later though, Sutton regained the lead when Kinsaba and Austin combined from a short corner to tee up Mallett who found him space 12 yards out and drove the ball low and hard past the keeper. Kinsaba then added to the scoreline as his mazy run ended with him curling an effort inside the far post from the edge of the area. Rhule then came close twice, first seeing a powerful drive parried away and then heading Josh Danquah’s cross over the bar before Danquah himself was denied by a superb save after exchanging passes with Rommel Hunte-Christie.
Hunte-Christie had the opening chance of the second half but pulled his shot wide after good work from Danquah down the right, whilst Lamar Fowlkes headed over the bar from Crossley Lema’s cross as Sutton looked to put the result beyond doubt. The home side were restricted to long range efforts that rarely threatened Wydler-Manzi, and in the closing stages Sutton did have the ball in the net when Ayran Kugathas pounced onto Stefan Ilic’s powerful strike that had been parried away but was denied by an offside flag.
