Over 200 people on a rainy Tuesday night at the Kingsmeadow Stadium saw Ryman league champions Sutton United won comfortably 5-1 against local rivals Kingstonian, with all six goals being scored by six different players. Goals from left backs, Alan Bray and Neil Jenkins, midfielder Romone McCree, striker Leroy Griffiths and an own goal (Michael Akande) secured the win for the U's; a consolation goal for Kingstonian was scored by Allan Tait. The Sutton players were greeted onto the pitch by a guard of honour by the Kingstonian players and management team. Sutton United started with the same starting line-up as Saturday (AFC Wimbledon), with the exception of Anthony Riviere who was replaced by Karl Murray.

The game started off with a high tempo from both teams, with the away team having the better chances. New boy Tony Taggart, playing on both wings had early chances to score, including a close range rebound strike from a Tom Davis shot, which was superbly save by Rob Tolfrey.

Kingstonian also had chances the other end, Bobby Traynor and Dewayne Clarke both came close to opening the scoring, including a flying save from Wayne 'float like a butterfly' Shaw. Sutton looked like scoring halfway through the first half, as Craig Dundas was put through one-on-one by Tom Kavanagh, but two great save and a little tugging of the shirt resulted in a corner.

Another chance was missed as Tony Taggart volleyed the ball over Rob Tolfrey's head but was kept out by the crossbar, but Sutton did go into half time 1-0 to the good. A beautiful cross from Tom Davis was meet at the back post by Alan Bray that looped a perfectly timed header over Rob Tolfrey's out stretched arm but under the crossbar, his first goal in over 4 years for the club.

The second half started as the first had finished, with Sutton going straight on the attack. Half time substitute Romone McCree and Craig Watkins having great chances to increase the lead, Watkins just putting wide from a Leroy Griffiths cross. It was Leroy Griffiths who doubled the lead, with a sliding back post strike, from a pin point cross by Craig Watkins. Sutton added another goal after a through ball was picked up by Leroy Griffiths, playing the ball across goal to Craig Watkins who laid it off to Romone McCree, resulting in a low powerful shot into the bottom corner.

Kingstonian scored minutes later, after a cross was meet by Allan Tait, which substitute goalkeeper Grant Porter was unable to save. A strange own goal meant Sutton had a 4-1 lead, Tom Davis looped in a corner, which was headed down by Craig Watkins, Rob Tolfrey flapped at the ball, and Michael Akande headed freely into his own net. Neil Jenkins finished off the victory with a shot that was smashed into the bottom right corner, after picking up a ball laid off by Leroy Griffiths.

Kingstonian:-

1) Rob Tolfrey, 2) Chris Page, 3) Tom Bird, 4) Ian Selley, 5) Paul Olima, 6) Gary MacDonald, 7) Jack Mcleod, 8) Dewayne Clarke, 9) Bobby Traynor, 10) Jerome Maledon, 11) Sam Clayton

Substitutes (all used) - 12) Simon Huckle, 14) Dean Hamlin, 15) Allan Tait, 16) Carl Downs, 18) Inaki Ordono, 19) Michael Akande
