NOTES
THE EVENT IS BEING ORGANISED BY TONY WARD, A PENSIONER HIMSELF AND, AT 70, ONE OF THE OLDEST OWNERS OF A HOME INSTEAD OFFICE IN THE UK. TONY HAS HAD A WONDERFULLY ENJOYABLE (BUT HARDLY SUCCESSFUL) CAREER IN LOCAL SPORT HAVING PLAYED CRICKET, FOOTBALL, RUGBY, BOWLS, SQUASH, GOLF, FOR A VARIETY OF LOCAL CLUBS. HE HAS ALSO COMPLETED 3 LONDON MARATHONS. AN EARLY PART OF TONY’S WORKING LIFE WAS SPENT WITH SPORTS EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS, WILSON SPORTING GOODS (TENNIS AND GOLF) AND JAPANESE GOLF GIANT, MIZUNO. HE MET AND WORKED WITH SO MANY ACCLAIMED SPORTS MEN AND WOMEN DURING THIS TIME WHICH ALL ADDED TO HIS OWN FUND OF MEMORIES OF HIS OWN SPORTING LIFE.
TONY IS PASSIONATE ABOUT HELPING THE ELDERLY REMAIN INDEPENDENT AND LIVING AT HOME FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE WHILE BEING TREATED WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.
HE STARTED HIS HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE OFFICE N THE SUTTON AREA EIGHT YEARS AGO AND HE IS SHOWING NO SIGNS OF BEING READY TO SHUT UP SHOP AND RETIRE HIMSELF IN THE NEAR FUTURE. A SELF CONFESSED “BABY BOOMER”, HE BELIEVES IN HELPING HIS FELLOW SENIORS TO ENJOY THEIR LATER YEARS AND LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST POSSIBLE EXTENT.
HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE, A MAJOR INTERNATIONAL AND INNOVATIVE FORCE IN CARE AT HOME FOR THE ELDERLY HAVE BUILT THEIR ENVIABLE REPUTATION FOR OUTSTANDING CARE BY BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR CLIENTS, BY SENDING THE SAME FULLY TRAINED CAREGIVERS AND BY PROVIDING MINIMUM VISITS OF ONE HOUR. THE KNOWLEDGE THAT MANY PEOPLE WANT TO STAY AT HOME IN LATER LIFE HAS HELPED THEM DEVELOP THEIR SERVICES ACCORDINGLY AND HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO HELP THEIR CLIENTS STAY IN THE COMFORTABLE AND FAMILIIAR SURROUNDINGS OF THEIR OWN HOME FOR AS LONG AS PRACTICAL
SUTTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB ARE ENJOYING ONE OF THEIR MOST SUCCESSFUL SPELLS IN THEIR HISTORY HAVING BEEN IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE FOR TWO SEASONS NOW AND WITH A VERY SUCCESSFUL F.A. CUP RUN BEHIND THEM IN 2017 LOSING IN THE 5TH ROUND TO EVENTUAL WINNERS ARSENAL. THEY ARE CHALLENGING NEAR THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE WITH EYES ON PROMOTION TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE DIVISION TWO NEXT SEASON.
THE CLUB PRIDES ITSELF AS BEING A TRULY COMMUNITY CLUB AND HAS TAKEN HUGE STRIDES OVER THE YEARS TO INCORPORATE THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN IT’S ACTIVITIES. THIS LATEST JOINT VENTURE, TO OFFER LOCAL PEOPLE A COFFEE MORNING WHERE THEY CAN COME OUT AND ENJOY SOME GOOD COMPANY AND TALK ABOUT THEIR OWN SPORTING EXPERIENCES (NOT JUST FOOTBALL), IS AN EXCITING ADDITION TO THEIR LOCALLY BASED COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES.
FIVE YEARS AGO, SUTTON UNITED LAUNCHED A COMMUNITY BUSINESS NETWORKING CLUB WHICH IS WHERE LONG TIME SUPPORTER TONY WARD REALLY GOT INVOLVED WITH THE CLUB. HE JOINED ON BEHALF OF HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE AS A FOUNDER MEMBER AND HAS BEEN ATTENDING THEIR BUSINESS MEETINGS EVER SINCE AS WELL AS BEING A REGULAR VISITOR ON MATCH DAYS.
