After Southend had taken control with three first half goals, Oscar Williams gave U’s hope by pulling one back before half time, and the comeback was on when a triallist made it 3-2 early in the second half. However the equaliser eluded U’s, who had goalkeeper Thomas Duah sent off in the second half for a foul outside the penalty area.
Our Under 18s are away to league leaders Luton Town, who have a 100% record after seven games, this Saturday, kick off 10.30am at Gipsy Lane, and then face Leyton Orient at the VBS next Tuesday (7.30pm) in the FA Youth Cup first round.
