One of the stars of Sutton United’s academy team has been rewarded with a contract as U’s preparation for the new season in the EFL continues. Striker Kylian Kouassi was a regular scorer last season in both the National League Football Academy and the Isthmian Youth League, and scored four goals in the FA Youth Cup run that saw U’s earn a third round tie away to Liverpool, in which they put in a fine performance despite being defeated. His performances have earned him a professional contract, and he is pictured at training today with, from left, Academy Head of Football Ricky Wellard, Matt Gray and Academy Manager Marvin Williams, who said: ”Kylian was outstanding for us last season and I’m very pleased for him that he has been rewarded with a first team contract, which is well deserved and also a great boost for the academy.”
Matt Gray said: ‘I’m delighted to have signed Kylian on contract. His excellent performances have earned him the chance, and it goes to show again what a great job Marvin, Ricky and their staff are doing with the academy and that it is a pathway for players to progress to the higher level within the club if they’re good enough.”
Kylian is looking forward to his future, saying: ”I’m very happy to sign my first professional contract with Sutton United. I’d like to thank Marv and Ricky for this opportunity, and I can’t wait for the new season to start.”
