We are delighted to announce the signing of Chinwike Okoli on loan from Millwall, on a deal that runs until January.

The young defender is highly rated within the Lions’ youth setup and will offer aggressiveness and composure to Steve Morison’s backline, becoming the U’s 19th signing of the season and the third player to join from Morison’s former club following Nino Adom-Malaki last season and Nana Boateng earlier in the summer.

A Millwall academy product, Okoli has played a couple of times in the FA Youth Cup, gaining senior experience whilst out on loan. This includes minutes in the National League already, with a short-term loan spell at Torquay United at the start of the 2022/23 campaign, playing three times for the Gulls the start of the season.

The 20-year old later joined Bromley ahead of the 2023/24 campaign following a trial period, and appeared 20 times during the first half of the season for the Ravens, making a valiant contribution to a campaign that would end in promotion to League Two.

Commenting on Okoli’s arrival, Head Coach Morison said, “he’s a player who’s been on our radar all summer, but we’ve had to be patient for him to become available and now he has. He’s a great addition to our group of players and adds much wanted cover and competition in the back line.”

“I look forward to seeing Chin in a Sutton shirt.”

Okoli will wear the number three shirt during his time at the VBS Community Stadium and is available for selection for tonight’s match against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Welcome to Sutton United, Chinwike!
