The Sussex side have made an excellent start to the season despite being tipped to struggle before the season had started, and currently lie in fourth place in the table, having won four of their five league games at the Broadfield Stadium, from where only Gillingham have come away with a victory. Their one major setback came at manager Scott Lindsey’s former club Swindon, where they were on the wrong end of a 6-0 thrashing.
Sutton will take heart from the fact that Crawley are one of the two clubs, Harrogate being the other, against whom U’s have won all four league games since being promoted in 2021, with last season’s games seeing Sutton win 2-1 on Boxing Day and then 3-0 at the VBS in March, since when U’s only league win was the hammering of Notts County on the first day of this season. U’s will make late calls on several players who missed Tuesday’s game with minor injuries, with manager Matt Gray hoping that most will be available for selection.
Saturday’s referee is Paul Howard, in his fourth season as an EFL referee, who was last in charge of a game involving Sutton when Walsall were the visitors to the VBS last season.
Tickets will be on sale at the ground on Saturday from the ticket office or the ticket cabin, cash or card accepted, with standing and seated accommodation available in the KR-L (North) terrace or the East Stand. Terrace prices are: Adults £15; Concession (age 60+/student with ID) £10;Age 17-20 £5; Age 14-16 £4, but free if bought with adult or concession ticket. Under 14 free with paying adult. Seat prices are £2 more for adults and concessions but unchanged for the other categories. Tickets are available on the day from the ticket cabin or ticket office at no extra charge, cash or card accepted. Ambulant disabled supporters pay the relevant price, with a carer admitted free.

For the audio commentary in the UK, passes can be bought for £2.50, but monthly passes are available for £4.49 and season passes for £45, both excellent value. Following poor spectator behaviour at a recent home game Crawley have introduced heightened security measures with effect from Saturday’s game and we have been advised that these will apply to Sutton supporters as well. Any supporters going to the game should read this article before leaving for the game. In particular supporters should note the ban on rucksacks being taken in to the ground. The turnstiles will open at 1.45pm on Saturday, and supporters are advised to get to the ground as early as possible to avoid any congestion caused by these enhanced measures.

Due to Saturday’s rail strike it is not possible to get to the game by train, but it is an easy ground to get to by road, the ground being adjacent to the A23 just north of junction 11 of the M23 (postcode RH11 9RX). While there is no on-site parking for spectators, there are free car park spaces in the William Reed car park at Broadfield Park, on your left between the M23 and the ground, within five minutes’ walk of the stadium. The car park closes an hour after the game.
Elsewhere on Saturday our academy side travel to Cambridge United for an 11.00am kick off at Clare College Sports Ground. However the Barclays Women’s Championship game between Crystal Palace and Sheffield United, which was due to be played at the VBS in the afternoon, has been postponed on compassionate grounds following the tragic death of Sheffield United player Maddy Cusack last week.
