We can confirm that we have accepted a substantial offer from Forest Green Rovers for Dan Wishart, whose move to The New Lawn will go through subject to FA and National League approval. Dan joined us in November 2014 from Hayes & Yeading and was in line to make his 100th appearance for the club on Saturday against Woking. His form last season saw him capped by England C in the game against Slovakia at Gander Green Lane in June.

Manager Paul Doswell said: ”It’s a good move for both the club and Dan – it’s a substantial fee, with possible add-ons, and Dan gets his wish to give up his job and concentrate on a full time career which will hopefully see him realise his ambition to play in the Football League, possibly with Forest Green who have made clear their ambitions for promotion. We’d like to thank Forest Green for the professional way they have conducted the negotiations and look forward to welcoming them in the FA Cup on Saturday week, when we have a gentlemen’s agreement that Dan won’t play.

Dan has asked me to pass on his thanks to everyone, from the chairman through to the supporters, for their encouragement while he’s been with us. He says that when he joined us nearly two years ago his career was in danger of going nowhere, and he is grateful for the support of all the staff, without which he feels he might not still be playing. It again proves that we will not stand in the way of any player provided we feel that the deal is a good one, and this is a great deal for both the club and Dan.”
