Like U’s, Doncaster secured a battling point on the opening day away to Bradford City in front of a crowd of over 19,000, and they will be keen to start their quest for a return to League One in front of their own fans with a good performance although they will have to do it without the suspended Lee Tomlin, who was sent off on his debut last week for two yellow cards in quick succession in one of the weekend’s more bizarre incidents.

Sutton also lost players in the home draw against Newport, Ben Goodliffe and Will Randall both forced off injured before half time, and while Goodliffe is unlikely to be fit, Randall is in with a chance of featuring at the Eco-Power Stadium. You can see Matt Gray’s pre-match interview below.

Saturday’s referee is Ben Speedie, in his third Football League season. He took charge of Sutton’s 3-0 win at home to Rochdale in March.

It won’t be the first meeting between Sutton and Doncaster, the clubs having both been in the Nationwide Conference in the 1999-2000 season, when both won their home game 1-0 , Mark Watson scoring the winner at Gander Green Lane in November before Doncaster took advantage of Aidan Newhouse missing an early penalty at the Belle Vue ground to reverse the scoreline a fortnight after Christmas.

Anyone who hasn’t yet bought a ticket and is going to the game can buy from the Club Doncaster Academy Reception in the North West corner of the Stadium. Prices are £20 for adults, £16 ages 60+ and 18-24, £5 for age 17 and under. Our accommodation is in the North Stand. There are still seats on the Supporters’ Coach, which leaves the VBS at 7.45am, fare £35 return. Information for independent travellers is here and an away supporters’ guide to the Eco-Power Stadium is here.

If you’re not going to the game you can follow a live audio commentary on our iFollow service, price £2.50, although monthly passes are available for £4.49 and a season pass for £45. Before that, you can see our Academy side open their EFL Youth Alliance season at home to Leyton Orient at the VBS, kick off 10.30, with free admission.
