After a successful first week in which Sutton backed up a draw at Harrogate with home wins against Eastleigh and Salford, U’s are back on the road this week beginning with a visit to Ebbsfleet United, who provided the opposition for U’s last away game of last season, where Tom Bolarinwa’s superb solo goal was enough to earn a first ever win at Stonebridge Road and end a run of five games without a win, propelling U’s in to the play-offs. That was a rare defeat for Ebbsfleet at the end of the season and they too made the play-offs, like Sutton losing in the semi final, in their case to Tranmere.

Ebbsfleet go in to the game with a win, a draw and a defeat from their three games, having come back from Hartlepool on Saturday with a 1-0 win. Goalscorer Corey Whitely, signed last season from Dagenham & Redbridge, was also on target last Tuesday, with a last minute equaliser that earned a first point following an opening day defeat by Chesterfield. Striker Michael Cheek followed Whitely from Victoria Road in the summer, adding to a squad that is expected to challenge again towards the top of the table.

Bolarinwa missed Saturday’s victory over Salford through injury but is expected to be fit to return for U’s, who will be without the suspended Aswad Thomas.

Travel and admission details are here – there is no segregation at the game, but supporters should note the details regarding car parking and roadworks outside the ground. If you can’t make the journey, we will have commentary on our Mixlr channel.
