JImmy Dack and Ross White will be in charge of the Sutton team, which is likely to contain several of those who were involved in last week’s superb FA Youth Cup win at Colchester, and are also intending to use some of the older academy players who have been out on loan this season such as Jack Taylor and Ollie Khinda, who both featured in Sutton’s pre-season friendlies. Last season Taylor was among the scorers at this stage of the competition as a similarly young Sutton side beat Merstham, although later in the season Metropolitan Police proved too strong in the quarter finals.

Sutton met Epsom in the final of the competition in 1984, winning 4-0 at Imber Court with two goals from Steve Galloway and one apiece from Mark Golley and Steve Tutt, and for the two subsequent seasons the teams competed as equals in the Isthmian League Premier Division, but Epsom now play in the Combined Counties League and currently lie one place off the bottom of the table, having won two of their eleven league games. The sides last met in this competition in December 2011, two days after U’s had faced Notts County in a live televised FA Cup tie, with Sutton coming out 1-0 winners thanks to a debut goal from Kyle Vassell(below), who is now playing in the Scottish Premiership with Kilmarnock.

That game was played at Merstham, but Epsom now play at Cobham’s Reg Madgwick Stadium in Downside Bridge Road, KT11 1AA. If leaving the A3 at the A245 junction, Downside Bridge Road is on the right just before you get to Cobham High Street. There is no on site parking, but the public Holly Hedge car park is opposite the ground and is free after 7pm. The closest station is Cobham & Stoke D’Abernon, about three miles away, reached from Sutton with one change at Wimbledon or two at Epsom and Effingham Junction. Bus 408 goes from Epsom at 17.45 past the station and carries on close to the ground, although this is not an option after the game.

Admission is £8 for adults, £5 for concessions (over 65, under 16) and free for armed forces and NHS workers.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes the game will be decided on penalties.

We hope to have a Mixlr commentary on the game and supporters should check nearer the time for confirmation.
