England Over 50’s Vs Northern Ireland Masters

The England over 50’s squad is selected from teams competing in the National Veterans Cup which has been in existence since 1990 and was originally sponsored by Umbro. Players must be over the age of 50 when the fixture takes place and actively playing for a club registered with an English County FA. Today’s squad features players from London, Essex, Surrey, Leicestershire and Hertfordshire.
The team play about 8 games a season, primarily against representative teams from other countries. Highlights in 2018 were their successful defence of the Over 50’s Four Nations Tournament held in Manchester in June, beating Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and also winning the inaugural Tri-Nations Tournament against Guernsey and Jersey with a combined over 50 and over 55 team in October.
After playing the Northern Ireland Masters today at Sutton United’s Gander Green Lane the squad is off to Boston, USA for two matches in April and then will be playing Jersey and Guernsey in May in the 2019 Tri-Nation tournament which is being held in Leicester. The 2019 Four Nations Tournament then follows in June, hosted by Scotland in Glasgow before a game in October against the Royal Air Force at St Georges Park, Burton.
