Vanarama National League clubs take their first break from the league campaign this weekend as the FA Cup reaches the 4th qualifying round stage, with clubs just one win away from a place in the competition proper. Tomorrow’s tie at Gander Green Lane is one of the ties of the round, with Sutton at home to Forest Green, current;y top of the National League and therefore the highest-ranked side in the weekend’s games. The sides have already met once this season, with Sutton travelling to the New Lawn in the first week of the season and coming away with a highly creditable 1-1 draw, Nicky Bailey’s second half penalty cancelling out Matt Tubbs’ early goal. Forest Green’s away record of six wins and two defeats is the same as Sutton’s home record, with their two defeats coming at Dover and on the first day of the season at Boreham Wood. Sutton will be without Craig McAllister and Shaun Cooper are both ineligible for the game after playing in the competition for Eastbourne during their loan spell last month, manager Paul Doswell explaining in tomorrow’s programme notes that to have prevented them from being cup tied would have restricted the number of games they would have been able to play while on loan. Craig Dundas, whose loan at Tonbridge has been extended for a second month, will play for them against Dartford tomorrow and in any replay but U’s can now recall him at any stage. Simon Downer is fit to return, but Ryan Burge remains on the injured list. Forest Green will not include Dan Wishart under a gentlemen’s agreement made when Dan moved clubs a fortnight ago, but former U’s captain Charlie Clough is likely to be in the visitors’ squad having been on the scoresheet in last week’s win at North Ferriby. Any replay will be on Tuesday at The New Lawn, kick off 7.45pm, with the draw for the first round on BT Sport and BBC2 just after seven on Monday evening, with this tie being represented by ball 63.
