After last week’s 5-0 win at Stansfeld in the third qualifying round, we have been drawn at home to AFC Wimbledon in the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup, and this hugely attractive tie has been arranged for next Wednesday, 30 October, at the VBS Community Stadium, kick off 7.45pm.
As well as being a local derby, the game has the extra edge of the two sides currently occupying the top two places in the EFL Youth Alliance South table, both unbeaten in the league, and while Dons are five points clear at the top having failed to win only once, we have a game in hand and have won four of our six games in the league. When the sides met in the League Cup earlier in the season, goals from Bobby Sheargold and Joden Trickett gave U’s a 2-0 win.
Admission prices will be announced in due course but as it is a cup tie any season tickets will not be valid.
As a result of this draw, our Surrey Senior Cup tie at home to Sheerwater, which was due to be played that week, has been put back to Tuesday 12 November, kick off 7.45pm at the VBS.
There has also been a change to this week’s EFL Youth Alliance game at home to Leyton Orient, which will now be played on Friday morning at Cheam Sports Club, kick off 11am.
