We are delighted to confirm the signing of Finley Barbrook on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The highly rated midfielder joins from Ipswich Town, having gained experience with the Tractor Boys’ first team during their pre-season tour of Austria ahead of their first Premier League campaign since 2002, in which he appeared against Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.

Barbrook was named Academy Player of the Year back in May, and also featured 30 times whilst on loan at Chelmsford City during the 2023/24 season, playing 120 minutes in the Clarets’ play-off semi-final defeat to eventual winners Braintree Town.

Upon signing for the U’s, head coach Steve Morison claimed he was “buzzing to get Finley over the line…finally. He’s been a player we’ve been after all summer; as soon as the season finished last year he’s been on our radar and we’ve been talking to the guys at Ipswich for a while now and now I can’t wait to see him in action.”

“Off the back of The Athletic naming him Ipswich’s academy player to watch this season it’s a great coup for us. He’s a well-rounded midfielder who has lots of quality and athleticism.”

Finley will wear the number 14 shirt during his stint at Gander Green Lane.

Welcome to Sutton United, Finley!
