All of the talk in National League circles this week has been dominated by the prospects for the League to be able to complete the season and the Resolutions that have been presented to member clubs to that effect, now that central assistance seems to be offered as loans in most cases rather than grants.  Naturally this week’s club Board Meeting had the same focus.

The various potential scenarios and consequences were debated in depth but, after careful consideration, the club’s directors were unanimous that we would wish to see the season played out to its conclusion and will be casting our vote accordingly.

In reaching that decision we were helped significantly by the amazing level of support we have seen from our supporters over the last year through the United We Stand scheme and various other fund-raising initiatives. The League season was able to start due to grants received from public funds; since then everyone at our club, on and off the pitch, has worked incredibly hard, together, to address the difficult situation we all find ourselves in. We believe it is the right thing to act in accordance with the original reason why those contributions were made and to support everyone throughout the club who has worked so hard to get us to this point, and therefore to play on and complete the season, whilst continuing to lobby  DCMS, The FA and The National League for grant-based support.

Regarding the first Resolution determining whether National League clubs should vote all together or by level, so that clubs in the National League and in the North/South divisions would be able to decide independently on the path to take, it seems to us that it is preferable in this matter for the divisions to have greater control over their own destinies, so we will vote for the National League to decide on continuation of the season separately from the clubs in the North & South divisions.
