Sutton’s goal came from Laura Murtagh, making her first start for U’s and scoring inside fifteen minutes, but Fulham equalised through a Megalie Mendes free kick, and then took the game away from Sutton with a goal at the end of the first half from Sophie Manzi and another in the first minute of the second period from Georgia Heasman. Mendes added her second with a shot that Zoe McNulty reached but couldn’t keep out, after which Sutton were unable to make any impression on the home defence.

Team: Z McNulty, A Measures, J Backhurst, S Modak, E Meehan, F Colepio, A Bowles, N Hurst, K Kabadaki, D Wells, L Murtagh. Subs M Knowlton-South, C Francis, T Hooper, K McKenzie, E Spear.

On Tuesday we are away to Dorking Wanderers at Meadowbank, kick off 7.45pm, and next Sunday visit league leaders Dartford at Princes Park, kick off 3pm.

The reserves were beaten 5-1 at home by Leatherhead, who gained revenge for their FA Cup defeat against our first team last week and maintained their 100% league record. Charlotte Back scored for Sutton, while three of Leatherhead’s goals came from former Sutton player Megan Button,

However there was better news for our development side, who went to the top of the Surrey Division One table in the South East Counties League with a thrilling 4-3 win at Hersham, who came back from 3-0 down after two goals from Lola Dulake and one from Maisie Clark, but a late winner from Oli Diri gave us the three points.

The sides meet again next week, the third meeting in five weeks, in the Capital Junior Cup at the David Weir centre, kick off 2pm, while it’s also Capital Cup action for the reserves, in the Intermediate section, at home to Tooting Bec in Collingwood Recreation Ground (2pm).
