What a great weekend for the Sutton United Disability Community Teams
With the Sutton United A team and Sutton Hunters playing in the semi finals of the FA People’s Cup and with also having 2 teams at the Surrey FA Premiership 1 and 2 fixtures this was always going to be big challenge on our busiest ever weekend.It was the Sutton United Hunters who took the headlines in the FA People’s Cup semi-finals. It was a tense day with a place in the final at St. George’s Park at stake for the winners. The Hunters played 6 games in their group with notable wins against Crawley and Faversham that saw the Hunters winning through to the semi-finals against St Albans City an dit was the Hunters with a great team performance who won through to the FA People’s Cup Regional Southern Final.Unfortunately the Hunters lost 4-0 in the final against a very good Basildon team. Coach Steve Preedy said “What an amazing day, reaching the final was an amazing experience for the players, they have done the club and themselves proud.”Proud Sutton United Hunters players collecting their runners-up medals.
Sutton United A also enjoyed another successful FA People’s Cup day with impressive wins against Portsmouth,Riverside and Westcliffe but they narrowly went out at the group stage on goal difference.
Meanwhile in Walton it was the Surrey FA Football For All Premiership 1.Sutton United had a successful day in the league with 3 wins and with some senior players playing in the People’s Cup it was an excellent performance to maintain the lead at the top of the league. Sutton United U’s Team also had a fantastic day in their Premiership 2 fixtures, with 4 wins and 2 draws that saw them again go unbeaten and stretch their lead at the top of Premiership 2.The U’s were helped with 7 goals from their excellent top goalscorer, Josh Taylor.
