Sutton led early through a Jamie Collins penalty but by the hour mark found themselves trailing to two goals from defender Tyler Cordner. Dean Beckwith levelled midway through the second half with a back-heeled finish in a goalmouth scramble, after which neither side could find a winner, the game ending in a draw which did little to aid Sutton’s play-off hopes or Havant’s fight against relegation. U’s finished with nine men, Jamie Collins suffering a serious shoulder injury after all three substitutes had been used, and Aswad Thomas being sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence, a late tackle as Havant built an attack that saw the referee play advantage then show Thomas his second yellow card after the ball had gone dead.
