Jamie Collins has decided to stand down from his role on manager Matt Gray’s coaching staff. Jamie retired from playing at the end of 2019 for work reasons, but had remained with the club as part of the matchday coaching staff and was on the touchline throughout U’s National League championship campaign. Prior to that, he had made 243 appearances for us, having signed in January 2015, captaining the side to the National League South title in 2016 and throughout the celebrated FA Cup run the following season, when his famous penalty against Leeds (above) was one of 35 goals he scored during his career with us.
Matt said: ”Jamie has been a tremendous servant to the club, both as a player and over the last season and a half on the coaching team, where he has been a great help to me and Jason. We are very grateful for all that he has done for the club, and wish him all the best in the future.”
