We can confirm that Jay Williams has joined Southern League Premier Division South side Merthyr Town on a loan deal until 7th January.

The former Newport County man arrived from Fulham back in January, having previously helped the Whites’ Under-18 side win their league championship in 2021, and would go on to play 42 times in the youth team during his time at Craven Cottage prior to his move to SM1.

Williams would subsequently appear a handful of times on the bench during the second half of the U’s 2023/24 League Two campaign, before making his non-competitive debut against Tonbridge Angels at the start of pre-season.

The Wales youth international now returns to his home country on a temporary deal, where he will feature for a side who currently sit sixth in the seventh tier of English football, with just a point separating them from the play-off places.

All the best, Jay!
