Sutton’s academy players continued to receive some crucial First Team experience during March, with plenty of minutes throughout for a whole host of young U’s.
George Vorster continued his fine form on loan at Ashford United (Middlesex), starting all five of the Tangerines’ games during March against Sutton Common Rovers, Raynes Park Vale, Hayes & Yeading United, Binfield and Badshot Lea. This included four goal contributions, turning home a long throw-in via a deflection against Raynes Park before picking out Prince Kandolo from a corner to seal a 3-0 victory. This was preceded by another two contributions against Badshot, forcing an own goal shortly before half time, and followed it up with a well-worked goal in the second half that saw him go past his man and hit the ball across goal and into the side netting.
Fellow academy players Liam Moore and Joden Trickett also featured frequently for the Tangerines during March with five and four games respectively, the former making three starts while the latter made all four of his appearances off the bench.
Junior Eccleston was once again a mainstay on loan at Walton & Hersham, playing every minute in March with starts against Gloucester City, Swindon Supermarine, Hanwell Town, Poole Town and Basingstoke Town. He helped the Swans secure two wins and three draws, along with two clean sheets.
Over in Wales, Jay Williams helped Merthyr Town extend their gap at the top of the Southern Football League Premier Division South to 11 points, as well as making it 32 games unbeaten with three wins and two draws from their five games. Williams started twice against AFC Totton and Swindon Supermarine.
Finally, Jack Rose was unable to feature for Hednesford Town due to injury.
