The 2024/25 season has got underway throughout the country, with four of the U’s on-loan players involved over the last month for each of their respective clubs.
Central defender Jack Taylor has made five appearances during his loan spell with Hampton & Richmond Borough, starting life at the Beveree Stadium with some crucial experience for a step two side having previously spent time at Burgess Hill and Hornchurch. The Beavers currently sit 19th in the sixth tier, with Taylor helping to keep two clean sheets in a win versus Salisbury as well as in a goalless draw with Maidstone United.
Elsewhere in Staffordshire, goalkeeper Jack Rose joined Northern Premier League side Hednesford Town on a season-long loan and started the season positively with four wins from six games, with Rose keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against Nantwich Town. The Pitmen currently sit third in the Northern Premier West Division and have scored 16 goals this season.
Following an injury to goalkeeper Jacob Marsden, Dartford manager Adrian Pennock bought in Matt Kerbey on an emergency loan which initially lasted until the end of August. Kerbey made six appearances during the opening month of the season for the Kent-based outfit, helping them sit third in the Isthmian Premier division following relegation last season. Dartford have won four out of their five league games and are through to the next round of the FA Cup following a 6-2 win over Marlow, with Kerbey keeping clean sheets in the wins over Carshalton Athletic and Canvey Island. The young goalkeeper will now remain at Princes Park until November, with his initial one-month loan deal being extended to three.
Finally, over in Wales, defender Jay Williams was the latest to leave on loan with a temporary switch to Merthyr Town being confirmed last week. Having only been with the club a few days, Williams featured as a substitute in a 3-2 win against Cribbs on the weekend, playing half-an-hour on his Martyrs debut.
