Tony led 48-45 after the first round of 50 general questions, but in the second round, where each competitor had two and a half minutes on a specialist subject, Mark recovered the deficit with his knowledge of the 1960s bettering Tony’s recollections of Sutton in the FA Cup over the last 50 years. The two were then asked the same five questions in a tie break, Mark coming out on top 4-3 to retain the title he had won at the club’s centenary.

A very strong showing by Andrew Youngman in his specialist subject of the 1999-2000 season saw him pip Tony Cove for third place.

Our thanks to Dave Farebrother for organising the quiz and arranging the questions, and to those who came to watch.
