The 2024-25 Surrey Senior Cup campaign begins for Sutton United tonight when Sheerwater are the visitors to the VBS for a first round tie.
Sutton are expected to field a side comprised largely of academy team players for the game, which sees the teams meet in the competition for the second time in three years. In December 2021 a Tobi Sho-Silva free kick (below) was the only goal of the game, but after it was confirmed that U’s goalkeeper on the night, Filip Chalupniczak, had played for Tooting in an earlier round it was Sheerwater who took their place in the next round.
Sheerwater are in the Premier Division South of the Combined Counties League, currently in 14th place out of 20 in the division, but come in to the game in reasonable form having won two of their last three league games, including a 3-0 win on Saturday against a Sandhurst side who had won 5-1 when the sides had met at Sandhurst in September.
Admission tonight is all pay at the turnstiles, with season tickets not valid. Prices are £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and juniors and £1 for Under 14s. There is no additional cost for seating.
The winners of tonight’s tie will be away to Merstham or Corinthian Casuals, who are also scheduled to play tonight, in the second round.
