We exited the Isthmian League cup at the semi final stage after a brave performance at Billericay Town who are currently 2 tiers above us in the Pyramid.
Missing several key players we shuffled the pack with 5 changes being made from the weekend which saw Millie German making her full debut.
We started well and had the games first good effort as Halawi saw her effort saved by the Billericay keeper but in fairness is was Billericay who had most of the ball but we defended well and restricted them to long range strikes which the excellent Mya Francis dealt with comfortably. We fell behind after 25 minutes however when we allowed their winger to run in the box unopposed and finish well from close range. On 44 minutes we had a big shout for a penalty when Halawi was dragged down in the area but the referee waved away our appeals.
We were forced into a change at half time as GK Francis was feeling the effects of a late challenge in the 1st half and with no back up GK on the bench we had to put midfielder Eden Clark in goal. 5 minutes into the second half the game was over as a contest as Billericay took full advantage of playing against a GK who had no time to warm up and they scored 2 quick goals to go 3 nil up and they grabbed a 4th late on to put some gloss on their victory.
The next game for the Women’s team is away to Saltdean in the league on the 2nd March 2025.
