The U’s were at Flamingo Park for some midweek Cup action as they faced Cray Wanderers Women in the Isthmian Cup on a cold wet night in Sidcup.
The first half started slow as both teams were trying to find a foothold in the early stages of the game with both sides coming close at either end of the pitch to open the scoring, but it was the U’s who opened the account first with Milly Cutler rolling one past the Cray keeper who had come off her line to give Sutton the lead 37 minutes into this game. Making it two goals in two games for Cutler.
At half time its Cray 0, Sutton 1.
The second half saw a completely different Sutton side in more ways than one… The goals started flying in and five girls were given their competitive debut’s for the U’s.
The second goal came just seven minutes into the second half as Ilana Harris-Walters poked one past the keeper from close range to double our lead. It was Ilana to then score her second and the U’s third of the game less than twenty minutes after her first as she rolled past the keeper leaving an open net and easy goal to make it Cray 0, Sutton 3.
The final goal came of debutant Palmer-Lockhart who rifled one into the net after a scramble to get possession in the box from the corner to make it a debut to remember.
The game ended Cray 0, Sutton 4.
We face either Dulwich or Farnham in the next round.
The next game for the Sutton United Women’s First Team is at home to Millwall on Sunday 13th. KO at 2:00pm.
