After six consecutive cup games since since November the Sutton United Women’s team returned to league action as they travelled to take on top of the league Dartford.

It was a slow start from the U’s and that was shown when Dartford rattled one off the crossbar and in in the early stages of the game. Sutton defended well for the first 45 minutes and kept the Dartford attack to speculative efforts with the occasional counter attack ourselves.

The half time whistle was blown and it the scoreline remained just one nil to Dartford.

There was a sense of belief coming out in the second half maybe we could take something away from a team which haven’t lost in the league since August.

Despite this Dartford showed their quality in the second half and put another four goals past the U’s as they went on to claim a dominant victory. The U’s had some chances on goal themselves in the second half but sadly we didn’t have the end product on the day to tighten the scoreline.

Sutton United Women now look ahead to their home game against Dorking in the league on Sunday 23rd February.
