The Women’s first team were in North London on Sunday as they took on Haringey Borough in the Quarter Finals of the Capital Senior Cup.

It was an even first half with both sides having chances to take the lead but defences were on top for the first 45 minutes at Cole Park. With a Semi Final place up for grabs both teams will have gone into the break hoping to take the lead early on in the second half.

Just four minutes into the second half the hosts opened the scoring and giving the U’s the job of getting back into this game. It wasn’t long after the hosts scored their first they got their second of the afternoon to put the U’s two behind.

As the half progressed Sutton were able to show their quality… With around 20 minutes gone in the first half the U’s broke into the Haringey box and Annie Thomas was bought down but the decision was no penalty.

However Sutton did get one back from Jaz Backhurst who whipped one top corner from outside the area, it floated past the keeper who could simply not get near it. Despite the goal it wasn’t enough in the end for Sutton who exit the cup at the Quarter Final stage.

The teams next game is facing Dorking in the league at Sheerwater FC for a 2pm KO.
