The U’s were back home at the NRT Stadium in Chipstead for Match day eight as we hosted Millwall Lionesses just a week after playing the reverse fixture which ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Sutton got off to a slow start and the visitors took hold of the game early on with a goal coming just three minutes into the game. A corner was whipped into the box and no one was there to deal with it and the ball ends up in the back of the net.

Millwall continued to have chances early on in the first half and just 15 minutes into the game Millwall had doubled their lead with an almost identical goal to the first.

Sutton now find themselves two goals down and looking for a way back into this game. After the second goal went in Sutton brightened up and started having chances but nothing was quite working out.

Then on 25 minutes a free kick outside the area was whipped in and Hannah Baptiste was there to smash it past the Millwall No.1 and half the visitors advantage.

Going into half time it was Sutton 1, Millwall 2.

The second half was largely dominated by Sutton who had a host of great opportunities to level the game at two all with a great powerful header which looked destined to level the game was saved and then a one on one chance which was tipped wide of the post. Sadly we couldn’t find that all important second goal and the game ends Sutton 1, Millwall 2.

After the game Manager Lucy Clark said;

“Tough one to take, we paid the price for starting slow… it’s tough to come back from two nil down, we did last week but we can’t keep putting ourselves in that position”.

The next game see’s Sutton make the trip to Fulham on Wednesday 16th October.
