Manager Matt Gray has made a double swoop in the lead-up to this weekend’s first friendly at Slough Town, capturing the signatures of centre back Ben Goodliffe and striker Aaron Jarvis.

Ben is the 20-year-old son of assistant manager Jason Goodliffe and has joined U’s after being released by Wolverhampton Wanderers, who signed him after some impressive performances at Boreham Wood where he came through the academy. He spent last season on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge, playing in both National League games against Sutton.

21-year-old Aaron signs after being released by Luton Town, who he joined in 2017 from Basingstoke, where he averaged a goal every three games. He made five appearances for Luton and has had loan spells at Boreham Wood and Falkirk.

Matt is delighted to have secured the services of both players. "Ben is a traditional centre back who enjoys defending and had a good season at this level with Dagenham last season. We knew he had some interest from Football League clubs so we’re delighted that he has chosen to join us.

Aaron has been unlucky at Luton in that he’s been behind James Collins and Danny Hylton, who are top quality strikers at that level, but I know both James and Danny from my time at Crawley and Aldershot and spoke to them about Aaron, and they were very positive about him. He’s a 6’2" centre forward, powerful, likes to get in behind defenders and I’m sure he’ll score goals for us."
