We have the Women’s World Cup and Cricket World Cup as distractions but there is an awful lot going on this summer down The Lane that is keeping us all very busy and we do have lots of important news to reveal just as soon as various I’s can be dotted and T’s can be crossed.

It’s a bit like that on the player front too.  I have had some long chats with our new manager and I’m really impressed  by his enthusiasm and professionalism.  He is delighted with the two new signings we have announced so far but is still working on bringing in the other players that he is targeting.

The playing field has changed, we were used to contracts all expiring at the end of the season but now many continue through May and also June.  This means we have to be a bit more patient.  There are players available now but not necessarily the ones that Matt is prioritising. He is also working on bringing in an assistant and we hope to be able to announce that very soon.

Matt is keen to continue to our tradition of meet the manager evenings and we are pleased  to confirm that his debut will be on July 15th with a 7.30 kick-off in the MBA Lounge.  All welcome.

We are also delighted to announce an open training session to be held on July  22nd on the pitch at the KCS between 10.15 and 12.45. All are welcome to attend and watch the squad train and have a chance to speak to the players.

Your board is being kept very busy too. As I said, there are a lot of projects being progressed to ensure that we are able to maintain or improve our budget. When you see clubs such as Yeovil, Notts County, Stockport and Torquay coming into the National League – not to mention Woking and Chorley – you know that the competition is becoming even tougher and we are committed to being competitive and challenging again at the right end of the table.

There are still a few weeks before the players are due to return for pre-season training and we should be keeping our media team very busy during that time. Watch this space !
