Holly Talbut-Smith gave Sutton the lead with a long range shot just before the quarter of an hour mark, her first Sutton goal, after which the restart was held up for several minutes due to a stray cat on the pitch.

Once the pause, or should that be paws, in play was over, Chloe Francis soon doubled U’s lead with a fine free kick from just outside the area.

Millwall pulled one back before the break, Shannan Drewe’s effort from distance beating Zoe McNulty, but Sutton held on to the lead until twenty minutes from time when Maizi Garwood won and converted a penalty. Five minutes later Garwood was on target again with a header, and Sutton were unable to find the equaliser that could have taken the game to penalties. The game was put out of reach in the last of the ninety minutes through another header, this time from Maisie Joyce, and in stoppage time two goals in a minute from Garwood, completing a hat trick, and Clementine Young made the margin of victory wider than Sutton deserved.
