Sutton United Football Club is delighted to confirm that they have triggered an extension clause in Alex Kirk’s deal, keep him at the club for an additional year.
The defender has become a crucial part of Steve Morison’s backline since arriving back in October, playing 11 times in all competitions and contributing to the U’s tenth best defensive record in the division.
An Arsenal academy product, Kirk had gained experience on loan at Ayr United and Bromley before making the move to South London permanent, having previously helped the Ravens win promotion to League Two last season via the play-offs, and has since established himself as one of the U’s best performers.
He has been a regular part of the side either side of a long-term LCL ligament injury that kept him on the sidelines for two months, but has since recovered to feature in each of Sutton’s last five games, and even scored his first goal in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in the National League Cup at the start of the month.
Kirk is now the fourth player to cement their place at Gander Green Lane for the 2025/26 season, following Eduino Vaz, Tyler French and Siju Odelusi in extending their deals.
Congratulations, Alex!
