We are delighted to confirm the signing of George Evans on a 28-day loan deal from Millwall.

A Lions academy product, the young goalkeeper is set to embark on his second stint out on loan having previously spent time at Isthmian League South East Division side Broadbridge Heath. He would play five games at the end of last season during his short stint with the Bears, three of which saw him awarded Man of the Match on successive occasions.

His displays at step seven have now seen him make the jump up to the highest level of non-league football, with Steve Morison using his connection with his former club to add depth to a goalkeeping unit that is currently in need of reinforcements, due to injuries to Jack Sims and Steve Arnold.

Upon capturing Evans, Head Coach Morison commented, saying “George is a hugely talented young goalkeeper who joins us at an important stage in the season.

He showed his potential during a brief loan at Broadbridge last season, and I’m looking forward to seeing him in action”

Evans will be available for selection immediately for tomorrow’s FA Trophy Fourth Round clash with Tamworth, and will wear the number 41 during his stint with the U’s.

Welcome to Sutton United, George!
