Sutton United Football Club can confirm the departure of Jeremy Sivi on a permanent transfer to Slovakian side MFK Zemplín Michalovce.

Sivi joined the U’s last summer from Championship club Middlesbrough following a season-long loan at Harrogate Town, and quickly impressed with his pace and trickery on the wing.

The Leyton Orient academy product made his Sutton debut as a substitute on the opening day of the season against Tamworth, before scoring his first goal in the 2-1 defeat to Forest Green Rovers at the end of August.

This was followed by his second goal a month later, a stunning first-time volley from the edge of the box, which turned out to be the winner in a 2-1 victory over Woking.

The ex-Harlow Town man later showed his versatility when he filled in as a wing-back for a handful of games midway through the campaign, impressing particularly in his first match in his newfound role against Braintree Town.

A popular member within the dressing room, he was also the architect to Finley Barbrook’s winning strike against Maidenhead United, with Sivi’s superb run down the left flank slicing open the Magpies’ defence before delivering an inch-perfect ball to Will Davies, who teed up Barbrook for a brilliant strike into the bottom corner.

The 22-year old received many plaudits during his time in South London, with a handful of Man of the Match nominations as well as two Player of the Month nominations for October and November.

Sivi now becomes just the fourth English player to move to the Slovak First League, departing Gander Green Lane after just five months to join Zemplínčania, who currently sit sixth in Slovakia’s top flight.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Jeremy for his contribution during his short spell in SM1 and we wish him all the best for the future.
