Will Davies has been awarded the Vanarama National League Player of the Month award for January after a remarkable run of form saw him score in all but one game throughout the month.

The U’s number nine has enjoyed an exceptional run of form over the last couple of months, and has hit new heights since the turn of the year with four goals from his four league games in January, contributing to a run of nine goals in ten games in all competitions.

After being unable to put him name on the scoresheet on New Year’s Day, the striker subsequently netted the winner against Tamworth in the FA Trophy, a second half strike against Wealdstone in what proved to be a 2-2 draw, a match-winning double against former club York City and ended the month with the only goal of the game with a brilliantly struck penalty against Eastleigh.

An outstanding goalscoring streak has seen Davies notch his highest goals tally in a single season since his stint at Leiston, and with three months of the season left to play, he will be keen to add to his 13 goals hit so far.

This award also sees his form recognised again, with Sutton supporters already voting him as the club’s Player of the Month for January as well as seeing his first goal against York win Goal of the Month.

Congratulations, Will!
