Sutton United are pleased to announce that Rob Tuvey has joined the club as Professional Development Phase Lead Coach. The 32-year-old had spent more than a decade involved at AFC Wimbledon, initially joining as a coach for the Foundation in 2012. After rising through various roles in the academy, including two years as U18 head coach, Rob was asked to assist Mark Robinson in keeping the struggling Dons in EFL League One.
With safety secured on the penultimate match of the season, Rob was appointed permanently as Robinson’s assistant head coach. He would remain on the senior coaching team after Robinson’s departure in March 2022, working closely with Johnnie Jackson until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Now Tuvey is excited to start a new chapter with the U’s, which began with a 1-0 win for the U18s over Forest Green Rovers in the EFL Youth Alliance (full report here).
“It’s been a few days now since I’ve come in, and I’ve been made to feel very welcome,” Rob told the club’s media team. “I’m really thankful for the opportunity I’m looking forward to the season. In the development phase, you want to try and produce footballers to build a career in the game. We want to make sure they’ve got the right tools on and off the pitch to be good people and good professionals. If we can win games along the way and create some really good memories, that’s also really important.”
