In front of a crowd of 131, Sutton began strongly and Kirsty Barton volleyed over the bar in the opening minutes before a good break by Alice Bowles was well defended. The visiting keeper then made a good save to deny Khy Mckenzie from a flick by Chloe Francis. Chloe Fowler and Darcy Wells with a lovely curling effort then both went close before Millwall had a chance of their own at the other end but blazed over the bar. It was U’s who then took the lead when Chloe Fowler’s long range free kick went in off the crossbar and goalkeeper. That lead only lasted five minutes as Sarah White equalised for the Lionesses but within a minute Mckenzie restored the advantage with a good finish after a great burst of speed.

The second half was not quite so busy although Mckenzie looked lively and might have added another goal or two before U’s survived a goalmouth scramble. The game grew much tighter with the visitors just on top but Wells had a powerful shot blocked on the line and cleared despite shouts for a penalty. With three minutes to go on the clock Millwall equalised through a Sophie Chapman header when the U’s failed to deal with a looping free-kick into the box, but Kaydence Kadabaki twice came close to winning the points for the U’s in added time.
