Wycombe knocked MK Dons out of the competition on Tuesday, winning 2-0 at Stadium MK, having lost their opening league game of the season against Exeter on Saturday. The clubs were regular rivals at amateur level in the 1960s and 1970s, but it will be U’s first visit to Adams Park since the semi final of the FA Trophy in April 1993, when U’s won 3-2 but lost the second leg at Sutton 4-0. It was Wycombe’s manager that day, Martin O’Neill, who drew Sutton’s ball out tonight to set up the tie at Wycombe, which is scheduled for Tuesday 29 or Wednesday 30 August.

Wycombe reached the semi finals of the competition in 2006-07, losing over two legs to Chelsea, but apart from that have only gone past the second round twice in thirty seasons, both times in the last five seasons.
