Justin John, the Assistant Manager for our women’s first team has decided to move on as he is relocating to Thamesmead and travel to games will become too difficult. Justin has been a massive part of our success and will be a hard act to follow.
Conor Reid spoke to Justin about his time at the club.
C:- "So Justin its very sad for us all to hear that you are leaving the club and won’t be with us next season. Can you tell us all about your decision?"
J:- "It has not been as easy decision to make, but with me relocating to a new house the travelling to matches and training is going to be long and a struggle to keep up with. Hence felt I wouldn’t be able to commit my time to the club as much as I wanted to."
C:- "You have been a huge part of the success of the 1st Team since we started 3 years ago, how have you enjoyed your time here?"
J:- "The past 3 years with the first team have been absolutely brilliant. 2 league titles, back to back promotions and a cup final to look forward to is a testament to the leap the team has taken in a short space of time. The foundations have been laid for this club to continue its success and add more amazing memories to its history."
C:- "Do you have a favourite moment or match that you can share with us?"
J:- "There’s too many to pick from. The away game against Tooting & Mitcham in our first season was a stand-out game for me. Tamsin’s cracking goal in her return game from injury, Emma Green’s goal direct from the corner kick, Zoe’s penalty save that turned around our second season and the comeback spirit the team has shown countless times. I have enjoyed every minute of it."
C:- "I know Duncan is very sad to lose you as are the players and coaches. How has it been working with him and the club?"
J:- "Duncan has put his heart and soul into this club and his commitment and relentless ambition to improve is one of the main reason why the club’s women’s section is where it is today. I have had the privilege to work with an amazing group of players and staff and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the support from Duncan, Tony, our sponsors Nordens, to all the players and coaching staff. It was great working with you all."
C:- "Finally what does the future hold for you and will we see you making a few visits to the club and keeping in touch?"
J:- "I haven’t decided where next, but I’m looking forward to next chapter of my coaching journey. I will be a life-long supporter of Sutton United Women FC and will try to cheer the team on from the stands whenever I can."
