Sutton’s return to the Vanarama National League will begin with a game against the one of the two sides in the division that U’s have never previously played, with a trip to National League North champions Tamworth on Saturday 10 August. Tamworth finished eight points clear of second placed Scunthorpe last season to clinch a return to the top flight in which they previously played between 2003 and 2007.

U’s first home game is against Altrincham on Saturday 17 August before a Tuesday night visit to Wealdstone three days later. York then visit Sutton before a Bank Holiday Monday trip to Eastleigh.

Boxing Day sees U’s at Barnet, with a home game against Aldershot on New Year’s Day, with those fixtures reversed over Easter, Barnet coming to Sutton on Easter Monday and U’s at Aldershot on Good Friday.

The season ends on the first Bank Holiday Monday in May with a local derby at home to Woking.

Apart from Tamworth, Southend United are another team Sutton haven’t met competitively before, and the first meeting will be at Roots Hall on Saturday 14 September before Southend visit Sutton on Saturday 5 April. There will, however, be two other grounds on which U’s have not played before with York City (Saturday 18 January) and Boston United (Saturday 29 March) having moved grounds since U’s last visits.

There may be some raised eyebrows, on Tyneside as well as in Sutton, at the fixtures against Gateshead both being scheduled for Tuesday nights, with Gateshead at Sutton on Tuesday 22 October and U’s making the trip north on Tuesday 18 February, three days after a game at Oldham.
