Steve Morison has provided a squad update as the U’s prepare for the trip to Oldham Athletic tomorrow.

The Head Coach has no new concerns for the trip to Boundary Park following the 2-1 defeat against Hartlepool United last weekend, and commented on the importance of the whole squad ahead of a long period with two games a week.

“Everyone’s got to be ready. Everyone’s got to be prepared. Everyone’s got to do everything they can to be ready when called upon. We want to keep injuries to a minimum but keep the output to a maximum. We’ll be doing everything we can off the field; the staff will be working incredibly hard to make sure the players are in the best physical shape they can be”

This will have also been helped by the positive news that Eduino Vaz, Tyler French, Siju Odelusi and Alex Kirk have all agreed new deals, and could all feature for the first time after triggering their contract extensions.

“They had options in their contracts which we wanted to take up and which we have done” said Morison. “It helps with our planning for next season knowing we have four very good players still on our books next year is great”

As for those unable to make the long journey to Greater Manchester, this will not include Finley Barbrook, who is set to miss out due to suspension after picking up his tenth yellow card of the season last Saturday.

The on-loan Ipswich Town midfielder has been in fine form throughout the campaign so far, starting all but one of his 26 appearances and has only missed one game all season – again due to suspension. Barbrook will now miss the next two games against Oldham and Gateshead on Tuesday night.

In addition, Josh Coley is set to remain on the sidelines alongside long-term absentees Jayden Harris and Steve Arnold.
