Sutton United supporters should expect changes to the squad ahead of tomorrow’s National League Cup match against West Bromwich Albion.

Head Coach Steve Morison spoke pre-match about the chance to give minutes to players who haven’t featured as much, as well as those who are returning to the team.

“They need to have games and keep the momentum going” said Morison on the purpose of the National League Cup, “we’ll use it as an opportunity to hone what we want to do so people who come in will be ready to carry on what the other guys have been doing in the league games”

Alex Kirk is in line to be involved after missing the last two months with a torn LCL ligament. “He’s one that we missed” remarked Morison, ” he came in and was excellent. Bit of a naughty tackle which ended up putting him out. He’s recovered well, trained okay earlier in the week and came with us to York as well, and trained on the pitch so he could tick those boxes. He’ll train today and be involved tomorrow.”

Siju Odelusi has also been absent for an extended period after picking up a dislocated shoulder in the last National League Cup match against West Ham United, but will see the Eastleigh game on Saturday as a more realistic target for a return.

“He’s on his way” Morison added, “he won’t be back for this game, he’ll be back [in full training] backend of the week”.

In addition, Jack Wadham has missed the last two games with a hamstring problem, but is set to return for tomorrow’s clash with the Baggies.

“He’s fine” Morison commented, “he was always planned to back after this weekend and hopefully he’ll be back in training this week”.
