Kelly-Jade Whelan has left her position as Academy Assistant Manager after two-and-a-half years in the role.
Whelan has had an essential role in the success of the club’s Category Three academy in both talent development and administration.
On Whelan’s final day, she was presented with a signed shirt by members of our Under-18s team as a thank you for all the work she has done for the club.
“To the club, players, parents, supporters, and staff, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible journey I’ve had at Sutton United FC,” Whelan told the club website.
“From fixtures to office laughs, children’s hospital visits, Christmas dinners, Spain tours, staff gym sessions, and beating Colchester on penalties in the FA Youth Cup — every moment has been unforgettable.
“The memories, relationships, and the way my family was welcomed as part of the club will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Glen Nichols, Academy Head of Coaching, thanked Whelan for her efforts, describing her as the ‘linchpin’ of the academy.
“We came in at exactly the same time at the start of the club’s Category Three academy status,” said Nichols. “It’s been brilliant to work alongside her. She’s been a really positive influence on people.”
“Her character is great, always put a smile on people’s faces, and she’ll be a massive loss to the academy and we wish her well with her next steps.”
