Oxford, who Sutton have never played competitively, finished 8th in League One last season, seven points short of the play-offs having been involved in the promotion picture for much of the season, and have twice been beaten finalists in the EFL Trophy, losing to Barnsley in 2016 and Coventry in 2017. Leyton Orient have never reached the final and finished 13th in League Two last season, with Sutton winning the league meeting at the VBS 1-0 after Orient had won 4-1 in East London in November.

The three sides will be joined by one of the invited Premier League Under 21 sides from Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Tottenham or West Ham, one of which will be added to the group in the draw live on Sky Sports News at 11.30 this Thursday, 23 June.

Meanwhile the draw numbers have been released for the first round draw in the Carabao Cup, which will take place at 2.30pm on Thursday, again live on Sky Sports News. The draw will be split in to a north and south section, with Sutton having ball number 30 in the southern section. The draw includes all EFL clubs except Burnley and Watford with Norwich City, the other relegated side from the Premier League, in the south section along with Birmingham and Walsall.
