Darcy Wells, who had cancelled out Acorns’ opener, scored a second from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time (above) to leave U’s with only a two goal deficit at the break, and then completed a hat trick early in the second half. Cassie Brown scored with a dipping long range shot to equalise and Keisha Small scored the winner, although U’s had to survive a late scare when Acorns were awarded an injury time penalty, only for the referee to change his decision after consulting his assistant and give U’s a free kick for offside.

The Under 23s are also in the last sixteen of the competition after a 2-1 win against Dulwich at Banstead, while the Under 21s completed a good day for the women’s teams with a 3-1 win over Ridgeway Rovers in a group game of the Sue Sharples Cup at Cheam Sports Club.
