Voting is now open for Sutton United’s 2024/25 Goal of the Season award.

Supporters have until 10am on Thursday, 1st May to have their say on who should be the latest recipient of the trophy, which will then be presented – alongside all other End of Season Awards – at the End of Season Awards’ Dinner in the MBA Lounge that night.

Six of the best strikes scored throughout the campaign have been shortlisted for the 2024/25 Goal of the Season award, so before scrolling down to the bottom to vote, here’s a recap on each strike.

Goal A – Eduino Vaz vs Eastleigh (A)

Eduino Vaz opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw with Eastleigh all the way back in August, in a match that ended in unbelievably unfortunate fashion as Sutton were denied the victory at the death thanks to some incredible goalkeeping from Joe McDonnell. Vaz had given the U’s the lead in outrageous fashion though, picking up the ball just on the edge of the box and pulling the trigger as he curled a sweetly stuck effort into the top corner to open his Sutton account.

Goal B – Josh Coley vs Chertsey Town (A)

A thunderous Josh Coley strike earned the U’s their first victory in the Emirates FA Cup, which went on to set up a First Round tie with now-League One winners Birmingham City. With Sutton looking for a response to going behind against the Southern League side, Matt Rush had levelled the score midway through the first half, moments before Coley brilliantly controlled a pinpoint diagonal pass from Tyler French, before cutting inside and firing a spectacular curling effort into the top corner to give Sutton the advantage in Surrey.

Goal C – Ashley Nadesan vs AFC Fylde (H)

Ashley Nadesan scored the first of two goals in the space of four second half minutes to seal a third win on the spin, over AFC Fylde. After a tense but competitive affair, Nadesan finally made Sutton’s pressure pay in spectacular fashion as a high ball from Jack Wadham put the U’s number 24 through on goal, who unleashed a powerful volley that flew beyond Ben Winterbottom to at long last open the floodgates, and set Sutton on their way to victory.

Goal D – Finley Barbrook vs Ebbsfleet United (H)

A wonderful strike from Finley Barbrook ignited the comeback against Ebbsfleet United, and kick-started a run to the Isuzu FA Trophy Quarter-Final. With the Sutton consigned to defeat, it took a moment of magic for Steve Morison’s side to spark a resurgence, as Ryan Jackson’s throw-in was headed as far as Barbrook who fizzed a beautiful first-time volley past Magnus Norman to pull a goal back. This would kick-start a dominant end to the game that saw Siju Odelusi equalise late on, before the heroics of Jack Sims was finished off by Nana Boateng in the penalty shootout.

Goal E – Will Davies (Second) vs York City (A)

Will Davies’ first half brace at his old stomping ground secured a first National League win of 2025 for Sutton and shocked title hopefuls York City, and it was his second that will surely receive the most plaudits. After heading Sutton ahead just nine minutes earlier, the former Minsterman added a second in spectacular fashion with a powerful, thumping effort that flew past York goalkeeper Harrision Male. Nadesan was initially unable to control a long ball from deep from Josh Coley, but his mis-control caught Malachi Fagan-Walcott out and allowed the ball to fall into the path of Davies, who picked it up on the edge of the box before unleashing a rocket of a shot that flew into the top corner.

Goal F – Lewis Simper vs Gateshead (A)

A goal that will need no introduction! A breathtaking Lewis Simper strike wasn’t quite enough to secure a fantastic comeback win in the North-East, as late goals from Luke Hannant and Jack Roles turned the game on its head for a second time to restore Gateshead’s advantage. The plaudits will nonetheless be awarded to the Sutton midfielder, as a long ball from Jack Sims was cleared as far as Besart Topallaj who knocked the ball down to Simper, who fired a ridiculous volley from 35-yards that swerved and looped towards the top corner, flying past Harrison Bond who had no chance.
