The game will be a good test for U’s against a Woking side who finished fourth in the National League last season before losing at home to Bromley in the play-off eliminator. Their side on Tuesday is likely to include Rhys Browne, who featured for U’s in the National League championship season, and Ricky Korboa, who was a Sutton player a season later as we made our EFL debut.
It will be U’s fifth of six pre-season games which have so far seen two victories, one draw and one defeat, while Woking have played three games so far, recording their first win at Welling on Saturday after draws away to Stratford Town and at home to AFC Wimbledon.
The sides met at Sutton a year ago, when Padraig Amond’s goal inflicted U’s only defeat of last season’s pre-season schedule, but U’s have won on each of the last two visits to the Laithwaite Community Stadium in Kingfield (below)
Admission prices for standing and seating are £12 for age 17 and over and £6 for age 16 and under. Tickets can be bought on line here. Ground tickets will also be available at the ground on the night, but seats can only be purchased on line in advance, with tickets going off line about three hours before kick off on Tuesday.
Woking’s ground is in the Kingfield area of Woking, alongside the A247 south of the town centre. It is most easily reached by taking the first exit off the A3 after the M25 junction and following the B2215 to Ripley before turning on to the A247, which will take you through Send and Old Woking in to Kingfield, with the ground on the left opposite Woking Park. As with Farnborough on Saturday, allow extra time to get through the roadworks at the A3/M25 junction. There is no on site parking, but parking is available in Woking Park or at the Heathside Crescent car park in the town centre, about a twenty minute walk from the ground. Both are pay car parks run by Woking Council. Limited street parking is available, but supporters are asked to park considerately.
The ground is about a twenty minute walk from Woking station. From Sutton you can travel via Clapham Junction at 12 or 42 minutes past the hour, or via Wimbledon, with an additional change at Surbiton, at 19 or 49 minutes past the hour. Total journey time is about an hour. Return from Woking at 22.19 via Clapham Junction or 22.33 via Wimbledon.
